Terms of Game Membership

Respect All players in the game must agree to treat other players with respect, kindness, and appropriate communication. If you have a disagreement, please speak to the player first before you bring the issue to a moderator. We understand that confrontation and conflict are not comfortable, but it's a lot more comfortable than escalation. The only exceptions are cases of discrimination and antagonizing or abusive behavior. These behaviors will not be tolerated and may be reported directly to mods with evidence. *********************************** Moderation Moderators are volunteers. Please do not contact moderators on their personal forms of contact to ask for mod work. We ask that you respect moderators' time and ability to separate moderation time from personal time by allowing moderators to answer questions at their discretion within a timely manner. Post questions on the FAQ page so that all players have access to the responses. Please refrain from sending private messages to the moderator plurk account, as we only check them when we are signing in to give announcements and may easily miss your question. Send all requests for moderators through the appropriately listed pages or private message to the moderator journal. We thank you for respecting this agreement, and in exchange we will try to address all requests within 7 days maximum (though will always aim for faster). *********************************** Ratings & Content Warnings All players must be over the age of 18. This is not a smut game, but mature themes may be discussed or represented. Any time mature content is present, posts should contain content warnings in either the subject line or at the top of the post in a clearly visible location. This includes graphic depictions of sex, violence, injury, death, and psychologically altered states (psychosis, hallucinations, drug-influenced states). This applies to OOC player discussions on game communities, IC played characters, and NPCs within RP threads and applies to all species. Sex is allowed in the game, but please be sure to lock content to members-only. *********************************** Activity You must be an active member of the community to continue in the game. Activity check is one thread of at least 5 consecutive comments per month. If over the course of 4 months all of your submitted threads are with the same character, you may be given a warning. Players are expected to have interactions with more than one character. If you are unable to meet these requirements, you may take a hiatus to waive activity for 1 consecutive month. There are activity awards available for additional activity submissions, please see FAQ for more information. *********************************** Permission Always ask for permission from other players before doing something that would significantly affect their character, including fourth-wall breaking. Godmodding, infomodding, playercest, blending of the IC-OOC line, failure to warn for sensitive content, and sexual content with characters under 16 are not permitted. *********************************** Stay in character A character should always be recognizable at the core, even if they have developments. Full personality flip-flops and headcanons that directly contradict known canon information are not permitted. HMD posts are not required, but we do ask that players stay in-character as they play. *********************************** Warnings and Strikes Failure to adhere to these terms may result in a warning or strike on a case-by-case basis. Moderators will notify if a strike is given within a week of the decision being made. Moderators reserve the right to ban someone from the game without strikes if a pattern of unacceptable behavior is established, even if the behavior occurs outside of the game.

If from an ongoing series that is broken into parts, please use only the main series name, not the numbers (i.e. Xenosaga 2 would just be "Xenosaga" because it's part of a chronological series). Inventory

Characters may come in with up to 5 personal items. This includes weapons and pets. Vehicles are not permitted. Large-scale explosives are not permitted (rocket launchers, bazookas, bombs, etc.) or will be replaced with a confetti-launcher version upon arrival. Ammo-based weapons arrive with the equivalent of a single clip of ammunition; you may use additional inventory slots for additional clips (or equivalent-- a quiver of arrows, for example, whatever it would be for your weapon/ammunition). Further ammunition can be purchased via Rewards after acceptance. Characters are responsible for finding appropriate shelter for their pets. Body mods from CRAU are permitted as 1 inventory slot each. See FAQ for details. This is an OOC choice, not an IC one. If you want your character to come in with nothing, just type "None." NOTICE: Canon-unique and CRAU items should include either a link to an item description or a brief list of the item's capabilities. Generic items do not require a link. (Ex: If you want your character to have a hammer, no link is necessary. But if you want them to have Mjolnir, you'll need to provide a link so we can easily reference the item and its functions.)

To assess playing skill, we require one thread sample and have a brief in-character questionnaire (5 questions). Answer each question as your character. If your character would refuse to answer, have them respond how they would naturally, but include internal dialogue in either prose or brackets (your choice) with their thoughts on it.
 

Thread Sample *

At least 5 consecutive comments from your character, may be prose or bracket-style. Thread must contain both dialogue samples (can be speaking or texting) and samples of physical action or internal thought. Sample thread should be no older than 6 months. Monika looked to the side awkwardly upon hearing the question. Gosh, how was she supposed to answer truthfully without lying? Well, she could say the truth but not go into details, right? "Ah, that's, uh... A bit embarrassing to talk about, ahaha!" She laughed, her main weapon whenever she wasn't sure what to say or how to go about things. "I had an epiphany not too long ago. It was like being able to see for the first time. You know how when you're adult, you see some things from your childhood completely differently? Well it was something like that, but it happened all at once. I don't really want to go into too much details..." She marked a pause and took a deep breath. There were no lies here. Everything she said was the absolute truth, after a fashion. "It's hard for me to talk about. I'm sorry... But yeah, if I had to pick an event that defined who I am today, that'd be it. Even though it just recently happened, I'm not the same any more. And I don't think I ever will be... Ahaha! Sorry, I may be sounding a tad too dramatic. Gosh, listening to me you'd think that was the end of the world. But please don't worry." She forced a smile. "I'm fine, really."

Another question, uh...? Well it couldn't be avoided. And at least that question offered her a choice. One of these thing was easier to talk about than the other. "I... I did some bad things. I don't think I'm a good person. I want to better myself though! I'm trying really hard." She trailed off for a moment before continuing. "Anyway, I don't want to speak of my regret so I'll talk about what I wish I had gotten to do back home, alright? It's kinda silly, but I wish I could have experienced love. It's my dream to find someone who loves me. I think about it all the time, but I... Um, I don't think I did the right things for this to happen. I wonder sometimes if I'm unlikable or something." She closed her eyes and sighed. "Do I really have to answer all these questions? I mean, I don't mind but I don't like to feel like people are trying to get into my head..."

That was a question easy to answer. She didn't hesitate and immediately rose a finger excitedly. "Ahaha, that's easy. I think first, I'd wish to exist in the real world. I mean, since I'm here you know my reality is not..." She paused, trying to find the right words. "Real, I guess. Like, it's real but at the same time it's not the same thing you know? Then of course I'd wish to find the love of my life! Nothing would make me happier." She beamed and giggled, obviously very excited at the prospect. But there was a third wish. Should she ask for the genie to take away her memories from her trauma and make her happier? Maybe remove her negative traits? The thought was tempting, but... That'd make her sound weak. Besides, would that still be her if a genie did that? That's getting a bit too philosophical. "And then... Gosh, I can't really think of anything else... Man, my wishes have been selfish so far, huh? I guess I'd use my last wish for the world. Save the planet. Solve hunger in the world. Have eternal peace. Something like that. Honestly, I should use every of my wishes for the world. But... I don't think I could."

At that, she doesn't reply immediately. Her ten-years old self...? She didn't exist, did she? Her creator had just given her vague memories of having once been ten-years old, but she'd never actually been that way. It was all fake. As fake as her reality. But what fake memories she had... It was still everything to her. Maybe she looked at this question from the wrong perspective. What if not her ten-years old self, but her pre-epiphany self? She had, after all, equated her epiphany to becoming an adult earlier ... She looked ashamed for a moment, and then replied in a low tone. "... I don't think she'd understand. I think... I think she would be disappointed." She tilted her head down and closed her eyes. "I think... She wouldn't want to become me..."

Her eyes widen at that question. A question for villains, what line she would never cross...? For a moment, she looks... Devastated. There is so much self-loathing she has to deal with following the horrors she had committed, it's overwhelming. So when someone else insinuates such things towards her, it's... Painful. She doesn't want them to think of her like that. But she deserves it, doesn't it? She's a monster. Even if she regrets what she's done... She would always be the monster who deleted her own friends. "I... Is that what you think of me as?" She looks down nervously, fingers fidgeting nervously. "I guess... That's what the player thought, huh... I was the villain of this story... And my creator— Maybe he made me that way so I would be a villain..." That was too much. A single tear ran down her cheek as she looked down. "C-Can we stop with these questions please? I know-I know I'm a bad person. But I really want to better myself." And another tear ran down. "Please... I don't want to answer questions any more..."
