Disposition: Monika is something of a perfectionist. This goes hand in hand with another trait of hers, how determined she is. When she has a goal in mind, she'll accomplish it no matter what. But she doesn't want to half-ass it. It has to be perfect. In her "normal" life, it translates to her making a Literature Club from scratch in a school where nearly no student care about literature, and keeping it going with only four members. She really wants to learn piano but has no time for it? She'll find the time, one way or another. Of course, this trait can also be used to more nefarious end. She wants a happy ending? She'll tear her little world to pieces and hurt her own friends to find her happiness. And she'll do it as well as she possibly can.

This leads into a major flaw of hers: she is very selfish. She admits to always having been selfish, but no more than any normal person. Truth to be told, she used to be a fairly selfless person. The true extent of that trait came following her epiphany. Monika became convinced that her friends were mere NPCs who didn't really exist. Her selfishness is born from the belief she is the only "real" person in DDLC. It is something that may persist to an extent in the game: are those people real? Should she really go along and trust them, should she care for their happiness when they may not even have the sentience to enjoy it?

It contrasts, ironically, with her good-hearted nature. Monika does care deeply for the player and even for her friends. Her desire to do good for those she loves and to reach a happy ending for herself are a source of conflict. She thinks of herself as a bad person following the events of DDLC, and really wants to become a better person. But what if that means condemning herself to a bad ending? Why should she make sacrifices for others when the world never did anything for her. Yet... A good person shouldn't think like that. What does it make of her?

It results in Monika being jealous and envious of others and ultimately, she suffers from no small amount of self-loathing. Her friends are blissfully ignorant of the truth, why cannot she be like them? She's said to be popular, yet they're the ones with a route of their own. Is she not good enough? She greatly desires the same things they have, but can never be hers due to how her world is designed.

But she is self-conscious and receptive to criticism. When she gets deleted by the player? After an initial outburst of anger, she is quick to reflect and realize what a monster she had become. When she doesn't purposefully avoid reflecting on her own actions, Monika is someone who is very aware of her own strengths and flaws. For example, she knows she's not that good with people and admits to being fairly nervous. She knows her perfectionism can be a flaw and hates how jealous the epiphany made her. But rather than allow these flaws to overwhelm her, she built a facade of confidence to compensate. Of course this facade can crumble quite easily when she is under pressure, but that doesn't change she always strives to improve herself.

And to finish, as mentioned above, she abhors a significant amount of self-hatred. Would someone else have done better in her position? Is she really the source of all the misery in the Literature Club? Because she is so conscious of her flaws and strengths, because she is conflicted between selfishness and selflessness, because she is torn between jealousy and being a good person— At the end of the day, her greatest enemy is herself.

Suitability: There is no two way to say it: she is going to think this is all a video game. People from different worlds, the setting, the native gems. Yep, that's a video game. Because that was her lot in life so far, she's going to assume that following her "death" her data was recycled and used in another game. But that probably won't last. Without her reality-warping powers and without being able to perceive the literal fourth-wall, she will eventually come to accept that this is reality, just another sort of reality. She wants it to be reality, at any rate.

Once the existential crisis settled, she will be very interested in doing what she can for this world. It is her chance at being a heroine, at being better and redeeming herself. The whole concept of manna and synchrony will weird her out at first, as she is very romantic at heart and longs to find her one true love. But she may end up seeing it as an opportunity though for her to connect with people in ways her homeworld, the DDLC game, had always forbidden for her.

Regarding physical changes, I doubt she will experience any, but if she does it would severely creep her out and affect her mental health. She would need to rely on others for comfort and helping her, which would ironically feed into synchrony. Mental changes, which she may experience during the 7-day period, would only strengthen her resolve to help this world and uncover its mysteries: she's been one who once influenced people's personalities. She knows something is amiss.

Essentially, this setting is a perfect second chance for her. Or perhaps, a first chance, as a video game character who was never truly alive to begin with.

Condition upon arrival: Well, Monika is a sentient video game character and she comes from after DDLC's ending. Basically, it's not just her being dead. She doesn't even exist. However, there is an argument to be made that the DDLC world is a reality of its own right and as such, she has a human body when arriving. In-universe, Monika ended her own life by deleting everything. It's pretty abstract. So upon arrival, I would assume she has a body but is literally on the verge of death, if not already dead.

Abilities: Monika possesses reality-warping powers... Within the confine of her video game world. Seeing how she is no longer in the video game world, she would have absolutely no powers whatsoever. She does however comes with extensive knowledge of computers and hacking, and would be very skilled (if only clumsy) should something related to hacking happen.

She is a very good writer as well, especially when it comes to poetry and short novels. She also possesses some leadership skills, but she's not quite there just yet.

Inventory: Her clothes and a pen. That's it. Being a video game character, Monika doesn't really have much in the way of material possessions.

        Gembond: Amethyst
        Gem Location: Her left shoulder
