[It's a full two days after the transformation period ended. Soundwave is back to his normal self but remembers what happened during his feral period, fragmented memories of one particular encounter with a brunette girl. As easy as it is to simply avoid speaking to the girl in question about it, it might just be a better idea for the two to have a talk, as ashamed and guilty he feels about the whole thing. While Soundwave had been through such an encounter, typically him being the victim of a feral Gembonded, and knows that either one could truly be blamed for it, he still ought to apologize to her for what happened.
Plus, he is worried about her, actually. What they shared back underwater was... well, passionate. As far as he could recall.
It doesn't take long scouring through network posts to find Monika's profile and contact her during the evening.]
[ She knew that moment would come, but she hadn't expected it to come that soon.
It was a mercy her stress wouldn't show through text. And if they were going to meet in person, at least she had enough time to prepare and rehearse a bit. Her reply comes twenty minutes late. ]
Hey Soundwave! Sorry, I was at the Office of Noctian Commerce to fetch some documents.
I agree. I vaguely remember what's happened... I wasn't really myself back then, but I still owe you some explanations. Do you want to do this through a video-conference or in person? I should be home in an hour, if you want to stop by.
[ She figured Soundwave wanted to apologize or something, but she hoped by putting herself as needing to explain herself too, he wouldn't feel as bad about it.
And while the bit about the Office was true, her memories of what they had done? Were crystal clear. She couldn't forget them even if she wanted to. And truth to be told... She wasn't sure what to think of them. She felt something. Something she shouldn't be feeling, they had both been out of their mind, after all. But there's no reasoning with such feelings, they're beyond logic, aren't they? ]
[With text, it's a little harder to determine what Monika's feelings are going through, unlike in person. He's sure she's stressing out a bit considering how soon this discussion is going to be, but Soundwave wanted to get it over with as soon as possible. But he sure hopes that she's actually doing well also, despite what had happened between them. Theirs in particular left an odd feeling in his spark...
His reply comes a minute after hers.]
Neither of us were in the right state of mind. And it seems we both have vague recollections of the event.
I prefer in person. If you do not mind sending me your address, your home is doable.
Okay! How does an hour and a half sound? Just so I have time to clean up a bit before you arrive.
[ Her house was already pretty clean. That half-hour was really just so she could rehearse and practice what she was going to say. She's got this, she was pretty sure of it. But she'd rather not take any risks. Besides... She had other reasons for wanting to be perfectly ready.
She didn't cry or cut herself all the time, those had been exceptions. Well, she'd cried a bit more often lately... But even so, she wanted him to see the other side of her. The young woman who showed confidence and poise. Who tried, at any rate.
That's usually considered a big step so congratulations once more.
I'll be there within half an hour if that's all right.
[Either way she'll show up at the appropriate time, knocking on the door to let Monika know she's here. She can't say she's looking forward to this conversation, but her expression is fairly normal for her. There's maybe a little anxiety noticeable in her normally polite smile, but she's not terribly worried about how this will go. Just the usual very human concerns about what if she's wrong about that.]
[ Monika on her end was beaming when she opened the door. Ever since the shadow was gone, there had been no troubles whatsoever. But she could tell Kiara looked a tad... Anxious? ]
Hey Kiara, please come in!
[ Unlike the place where she used to live, this was a cozy one-story house, with noticeably large enough doors to make it possible for Soundwave to go in. It was a bit new for Monika. There had been no stairs and no garden in the place she'd taken care of before. The decoration inside was a work in progress, and it seemed Monika was pretty much bringing her style with her. Lots of pink and heart-shaped decorations.
Better than the absolute lack of decoration before her arrival. The picture she and Kiara had made during the party had survived the move! And there were a few more pictures now, noticeably one of Monika with Soundwave. ]
I hardly can believe she approached me like that either. And in the meantime, I may have only manipulated her more. I disguised myself as somebody she knew so that I could at least guide her into learning the truth of what happened. She deserved to know who I was. I didn't know what else to do.
I don't know how this will go. We're going to rebuild little by little, at our own pace. And I won't lie to her or hurt her ever again.
You eased her into learning the truth. "Manipulation" comes with a negative connotation. It implies your intent was to take advantage of her, which is not true. And in turns it reinforces your belief that you are a bad person. So, no using that word okay? I know it sounds silly, but it's very important. Using positive words to describe our actions is the first step to accepting and loving ourselves.
I'm sure you two will understand each other. It may be a slow process, but beautiful stories all take time to be written.
do you know somebody named sayo? i know she came here a few months ago, and you two seem like you have a lot in common
[That's the best way Jessica can obliquely open this conversation without necessarily revealing her friend without permission if Monika didn't know—although considering how close she seemed to Beatrice, Jessica figured that the odds of that were low.]
[ That was a weird question, though not an unexpected one. Beato had told her they'd started speaking and were on better terms... Though she wondered what Jessica may want from her. ]
I do. She's a precious friend.
I am glad she found the strength to say that name to you. I was hoping she would.
then i was wondering, since you're really good friends with her, if... you'd maybe help me out a bit? i don't know, i think she deserves something nice. a night on the town as herself having fun or something, so she doesn't feel like... well... you already know. as much.
[A letter and a small package arrives! The package contains some cookies.
The letter is as follows:]
Monica,
I hope you're well! This holiday is foreign to me, but I like giving presents and I love to bake! I hope you like the cookies. I made them without eggs or butter which was kind of tough, but I like how they turned out personally.
[Her wrapped presents are found under the house's Christmas tree, which includes a personalized pink pen with a padded case, a modest party dress, and a little snowman trinket.
And there's also a small note on one of the gifts promising her that they'll make love later in the night.]
[On the 25th, a gift basket with various candies and other sweets is delivered to Monika's house. There's also a wrapped box containing a nice stationary set, figuring that it's something that Monika most likely can always use. There's also a signed card thanking her for her friendship and wishing her the best, as always.]
In full armor with an added red and white scarf Shaxx shows up with a bright red paper box, which he delivers with a cheerful (and loud), "Happy Dawning!"
The box contains a selection of biscotti (vanilla; orange and chocolate; and coconut, pistachio, and fennel) that are shockingly not bad as long as they're dipped in one's hot drink of choice first.
[ Which surely she is, but he feels obligated to say it regardless. There's a bit of a lull between the first message and the second as he deliberates how much he wants to pry into her personal life. ]

Monika. I am returning from Marilla.
I am also bringing someone over to stay at our house for the night. She will be using the free room.

Soundy Sweety~ I'm so excited to see you again!
And who is your guest?
no subject
Nazuna, she is a new arrival. She is also a vampire.
Have no concern. She is harmless. We've done nothing but drink up until she passed out.
I would have sent her to her place, but she has not found a place to stay. So I offered her a room to sleep in temporarily. Just for tonight.
[Maybe. He's not sure if she wants to stay in their hourse or not. But hopefully, Monika understands why he's bringing someone to their love nest.]
